1970's Olivetti Underwood Lettera 32 Typewriter

1970's Olivetti Underwood Lettera 32 Typewriter

Sorry, this item has sold.

This 1970's Olivetti Underwood Lettera 32 is not just nice to look at it works like a dream. Its low profile and pale green colour would look good in any setting. It is in used condition and has a few cosmetic issues, some paint chips, one side of the carriage got funky from bad storage and the keys show some fading. See pics 6-9
That being said it functions fully without any issues and is ready for you.
Make no mistake, this is a professional’s tool, unlike other portables which are designed for the home user who only has the occasional correspondence to knock out. One can see why this is the typewriter of choice for pros. This little typewriter is meant for manuscripts.
Fun Facts:
Cormac McCarthy used an Olivetti Lettera 32 to write nearly all of his fiction, screenplays, and correspondence, totalling by his estimate more than 5 million words. The Lettera 32 that he purchased in 1963 was auctioned at Christie's on December 4, 2009, to an unidentified American collector for $254,500, more than 10 times its high estimate of $20,000.

Francis Ford Coppola used an Oliveti Lettera 32 to write the screenplay for the 1972 motion picture The Godfather, which he also directed.

We will load it up with a fresh ribbon of your choice.

The typewriter I ordered from The Handwork Department for my husband's birthday was exactly what he wanted. The item was exactly like it was described and arrived in perfect shape and faster than I expected. The seller contacted me to ask what colour ribbon I wanted with it which was a nice touch.
