This table lighter is shaped like a table lamp with white cherry blossom motif painted on a blue background. It has a delightful way of making it spark, you simply push the button on the base and it springs to life with flame.
Made in Japan and lists an American patent which shows this piece was made in the 1950s for export to North America.
The button operates a lever which lifts a small latch which releases the lid which is attached to the flint wheel, causing it to spark. Easy to fill and change the flint, it comes with a fresh flint installed so all you need to do is find some liquid naphtha lighter fluid which sometimes can be found under the name Ronson or Zippo.
In good condition for it's age, it works perfectly every time and only has minor wear such as the spot of missing paint on the blue shade as pictured.
