This large chalkware bust of Elvis was made in the 1970's after the devastating death of the King of rock and roll 45 years ago.
Chalkware refers to sculptures made of plaster which were very common from the turn of the century through the mid-century period and by the 1970's were commonly found in homes everywhere. When Elvis met his demise chalkware sculpture makers bought Elvis bust molds and began churning out these delightfully tacky pieces.
Because plaster is a softer material than ceramic or porcelain these busts were easily broken from a fall, and the paint can be chipped easily meaning few of these statues remain especially in as good condition as this one.
This statue has some minor chips in the paint but is overall in very good condition with none of the chips being very big or noticeable. Measures 24" tall
Due to the fragility of this piece it will be packaged with the utmost care and may cost more than standard shipping
