Sterling Silver Birks Earring Presentation Box

This vintage bell-shaped sterling silver ring box is a classic style from Canadian jewellery icon, Birks. Use it to present an engagement ring or keep it on your bedside table to display and store any of your favorite rings.

Up until the 1950's when an engagement ring was purchased at a luxury jewelry store like Tiffany, Birks and others, a sterling silver ring box was included. These petite silver treasures came in many shapes and sizes: rectangles, squares, rounds, ovals, hexagons and hearts.

The outside dimensions are: the base diameter is just under 2 inches tapering to a diameter of just under 1 1/2 inches, the height is a little over 1 1/2 inches.

Stamped Sterling and Birks, on the bottom of the box, the outside is in good condition and has minor surface scratches only visible through magnification that one would expect to see on a piece of this age. The inside of the ring is lined in black velvet with two slots and there is minimal wear to the ring pad. The hinge is in good condition but has at some point been repaired. This piece has been buffed to a shine but still has some patina of tarnish.
