This antique spring latch in the Eastlake style is dated from the Victorian period and is operated by pulling a chain which would be attached to the spring lock which pulls the tongue in to the latch, releasing it from the included catch-plate.
Made of iron with a dark patina from over a hundred years of use. No noticeable rust. Comes with latch and catch-plate, no chain. Catch-plate is brass while latch is iron and there is a slight colour difference as can be seen in the photos
