Vintage Saint John New Brunswick metal enamel pin. Design is a "Loyalist Man," a mascot for Saint John, known as the "Loyalist City." After the American Revolutionary War ended in 1783, thousands of United Empire Loyalists (American colonists who remained loyal to the British Crown) fled the newly formed United States and settled in the area. Due to this massive influx of settlers, Saint John was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1785, making it the first incorporated city in what is now Canada.
