$9.65

Vintage Fort St. John, B. C. and Kin Canada metal enamel pin. Fort St. John is a major hub for oil and natural gas. The slogan "Land of the New Totems" is a reference to the oil derricks that scatter the area, which have become the region's new iconic symbols, much like traditional wooden totems. Pin design includes an oil derrick, the Kin Canada press, and a mascot, likely tied to a local event/group connected to Kin Canada. Formerly the Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs of Canada, Kin Canada is a secular Canadian non-profit service organization. It promotes service, fellowship, positive values, and national pride. The members comprise Kinsmen, Kinette and Kin Clubs (service clubs) located throughout the country. The organization was founded in 1920 by Hal Rogers in Hamilton, Ontario. The phrase "Family of Kin" is a collective term for the various clubs and members that make up Kin Canada.
