Design features the town crest, which includes reference to the Rocky Mountains and the Purcell Mountains, the Columbia River and the Kicking Horse River, and forests. At the bottom is the slogan "Town of Opportunity," reflecting Golden's origins as a booming hub for the railway, forestry, and mining industries in the late 19th century.
