Vintage Istravino Yugoslavia lapel/stick pin. Istravino (specifically Istravino D.D. - Rijeka) was a major state-owned wine and spirits producer based in Rijeka, in the Istria region. Yugoslavia was a Balkan country that existed from 1918 to 1992, uniting South Slavic peoples under two main iterations: the Kingdom of Yugoslavia (1918–1941) and the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (1945–1992). Founded on the vision of unity after World War I, it was a diverse nation spanning Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia. During the socialist period of Yugoslavia, winemaking was dominated by large state cooperatives like Istravino, which focused on mass production and export.
