Vintage Istarsko Pivo Yugoslavia/Croatia lapel/stick pin. Istarsko Pivo is a flagship regional pale lager brewed by Istarska Pivovara in Buzet, Croatia. The brewery was founded in 1977, introducing industrial-scale brewing to the western region of Croatia (when Croatia was a part of former Yugoslavia). Yugoslavia was a Balkan country that existed from 1918 to 1992, uniting South Slavic peoples under two main iterations: the Kingdom of Yugoslavia (1918–1941) and the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (1945–1992). Founded on the vision of unity after World War I, it was a diverse nation spanning Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia.
