Vintage Kragujevac October Memorial Park (Spomen-park Kragujevački oktober) Yugoslavia/Serbia lapel/stick pin. The park commemorates the 1941 massacre in Kragujevac during World War 2. Between October 15 and 20, 1941, the German 717th Infantry Division carried out the executions in retaliation for a Partisan siege of the city, applying Adolf Hitler's decree of "killing 100 Serbs for every German soldier killed." The park was completed in 1970 and designed by architects Spasoje Krunić and Dragutin Kovačević. The landscaped spomenik grounds feature dozens of upright marble pylons and an amphitheater used for commemorations.
Yugoslavia was a Balkan country that existed from 1918 to 1992, uniting South Slavic peoples under two main iterations: the Kingdom of Yugoslavia (1918–1941) and the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (1945–1992). Founded on the vision of unity after World War I, it was a diverse nation spanning Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia.
