This hand painted fine china cream and sugar set were made in Japan in the 1950's. After the war Japan had become a huge manufacturer of ceramic kitchen goods and souvenirs for export as a way to help build their shattered economy back up and and employ their citizens.
Bottom of each piece is marked Made in Japan and feature hand painted peonies and peach lustre accents. Some paint has faded on the handles and there is one chip in the rim of the sugar bowl as pictured.
A unique piece of history you can use every day!
